Our teaching programme is unique to The Sussex Swim School. We combine the Swim England recognized teaching methods with building water confidence, and the introduction of water safety techniques whilst having lots of fun.
We welcome children from birth for our Baby Beginner class or a Duckling 1 class for 12 months old plus.
Children who are a different age or level of experience are invited along for a trial session in order that one of our teachers can assess the child’s individual aquatic ability. We can then place them in to a class to match their ability.
The pupils are continually assessed by our teachers. Once they have achieved the requirements for their stage they will be awarded the Swim England Award Badge and Certificate and are then moved to the next appropriate stage class. In between stages we also award distance badges and diving badges.
We follow the Swim England Duckling Awards for pre-school children Duckling 1 through to Duckling 4 which is normally when they start school full time. The pupils can then transfer to our after school lessons Monday to Friday between 3.45 and 6.15, or Saturday lessons. The pupils will then start the Swim England National Teaching Plan for Swimming at Stage 1 all the way through to Stage 10 – an exciting aquatic journey up to competition level.
